1) We will be using the matches to teach. Coaches will be encouraged to be on the field, stop play when necessary, make corrections, and officiate the game. We feel this will be an invaluable tool for development.
2) We will play 8v8 if possible, and this may involve trading players from one team to another for certain matches.
3) Warm-ups will be done on the match fields prior to the matches. If you are the second match, we encourage players to go to the back field to “juggle, dribble, or pass” (players shouldn’t stand idly or need a coach to get them moving). Please bring a properly inflated ball to every match.
4) RULES:
a. 8v8
b. 25 minute halves
c. Sideline restarts with dribble in/pass in.
d. No goalkeeper punts
e. Goals will only count if all field players are past half field when ball goes in.
f. FIFA rules will be enforced
5) Statistics - We do keep score of our matches, posting standings and statistics for fun. The Academy is a teaching environment, and learning to compete is part of the process.
