 Doc's eClassroom

 Girls,
The link is Maradona's famous goal against in England in the 1986 World Cup in Mexico. I chose this clip because of the different elements we talk about when dribbling. The 1st clip is in slow motion and the 2nd at game speed. This is considered one of the best goals of all time. I will be updating our page every week with highlights.

  1. 1st touch- clean and away from pressure.
  2. Toe hop
  3. Running with the ball- big touches into space at speed.
  4. Touches get smaller as he approaches the next defender to set up the next move.
  5. Inside flick  or inside outside
  6. Fake pass or chop- disguise is the key element during the last two moves.
  7. Fake pass or chop again- watch how he opens his hips to one direction and chops the ball in the other direction
  8. GOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLL!!!!!

Week Two

Girls,
This weeks clip is from 2006 World Cup in Germany. Argentina is known for the beautiful way they play the game. Their ability to make triangles along with their passing make them impossible to defend. Wouldn't it be nice for people to say that we play "beautiful soccer." The Argentinians were able to string together 25 passes before scoring a beautiful goal. How many of the concepts of "Simple O" are you able to recognize?

Argentina's 25 Passes Goal

      "Simple O"

1. When we have the ball attack as a unit. (11)
2. Your first touch is the most important touch
3. Know what you want to do before you get the ball.
4. Support the player with the ball
5. Never turn into the defender.
6. Open up and spread the field.
7. If you have time and space , look to attack directly.
8. Play the way you face.
9. Takes chances in the other teams end. (attacking 3rd)
10. Nothing stupid in your own end. (defensive 3rd)

Week Three

Girls,
The shot fake is one of the most deadly moves in and around the box. The defender must respect the fact that you will shoot.
1. The most important thing for the attacker is to sell the shot.
2. You can't sell a shot without the proper set up touch.
3. Watch how he sets up the shot fakes with a slight touch off to the side.

Ibrahimovic is one of the top strikers in the world and you can see why.

Week Four

Girls,
Here is a follow up to our session on Monday. Enjoy!!!

Banana Kick- striking through the outside of the ball with the outside of your foot. Toes pointed in.
Bender- striking through the outside of the ball with the inside of your big toe. Exaggerate the follow through with a toe curl inward.
Laces- strike through the middle of the ball with your laces. Toe pointed out and downward. If you hit the ball on the valve it will knuckle. (surprise!!)
Toe poke- when you don't have time, reach and poke it!!!
